Marketing Research (MKT537): A leftover in Sept-Jan 2016

Assignation of marketing research (MKT537) for Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing) class begins on the October 5th, 2015. Picks up from chapter 5 and so on.

This could be a great experience with marketing students who have been known quite sloppy in final year thesis projects. Let's see what might change?

Mistakes and Flaws in a Thesis Process - Initial Thought

Thesis process will be an enjoyable and fruitful adventure if students execute their understanding of the courses in their UiTM BBA curriculum. The curriculum prepares the students with sufficient knowledge in management, economic, strategic, organization and other specific skills for future application in any business endeavors. However, last minute study and exam oriented syndromes prevail consistently and contribute to erode all those purposes.

Common flaws:
1. 'If you fail to plan, you plan to fail' (Benjamin Franklin) vs. 'If you fail to plan for success, you are planning to fail' (Rewritten - William Bouffard, 2013). Fail to execute own schedule.
2. Practical vs. thesis.
3. Supervisor syndrome
4. Time frame
5. The blinds lead the blinds - easier to utilize unauthorized counselors than the assigned supervisor
6. Distrust in self worth - self sabotage
Specific and critical:
1. Weak proposal - Major cause
     - Incomplete writing - not well thought ideas and vision, limited references, follow the blinds.
     - Fail to establish knowledge (present and future)
     - Take for granted and look for excuses.
2. Stop learning, relearning and unlearning
     - The final semester is just to enjoy the practicum
3. 'I follow...' syndrome.
     - Follow friend(s) or previous friend's thesis
Got to pen off for now, if you can overcome most of them your outcome should be good enough. I'll review on the supervisors' mistakes and flaws in next writing. Enjoy the following reflection...
